This year, we are organizing the 6th Student Computer Science Research Conference. The conference will be held as part of the conference multi-conference Information Society (IS'19), at 10 October, in Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies in Koper.
We invite you to actively participate in the conference with preparation of your scientific papers. The accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings in electronic form (CD). Health Data Meets AI
Healthcare is a data-rich industry and creates vast amounts of data during routine and emergency procedures in various forms, which used to be stored mainly as paper documents. The adoption and advancement of Electronic Health Records (EHR) enables capturing this data in a structured way, meaning that it could eventually be aggregated and analysed to improve care (decision making, learning, research, …) and healthcare connected operations (administration, billing, …). This has already skyrocketed amounts of clinical data making it too big to efficiently manage for physicians, researchers and administrators. At this point there is a need for support at handling repetitive tasks on high amounts of continuous data flow, which is perfectly suited for Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI-powered simulations and analysis of structured clinical data bring forward increased efforts and breakthroughs in treatment innovation, drug discovery, personalized medicine and care optimization.
At Better by Marand we are dedicated to helping healthcare providers achieve vendor neutral and lifelong accessible clinical data for their patients through products like Better platform. Additionally, our efforts are also dedicated to find a better use of data with state-of-the-art AI solutions. This presentation will exhibit the recent activities at our R&D department that were aimed at this goal and demonstrate a use-case of clinical entity extraction from speech data.

On Monday, 4th of March, at 13.00 in the G2 Alfa lecture hall at UM FERI, Koroška cesta 46, a lecture from industry by Comtron company will be held. The presenters will be Ivan Selar, Vinko Šmid, and Rado Jelen. The lecture will include the overview of Node.js technologies, the Express framework, and the Angular framework used by the company in the development of their web applications. They will also present their web application, which they execute on cloud infrastructure and can be adapted on any number of their clients.

The lecture will be given by Jure Bordon from Celtra, which is the leading company in the field of development of creative technologies for mobile advertising on web pages and within applications. Celtra services are used by companies such as Unilever, Uber, Airbnb, Apple, Youtube and McDonalds. Celtra operates in Ljubljana, Boston, San Francisco, Singapore, London and New York. The majority of development is happening in Slovenia, where the company employs more than 80 experts.
In the lecture, Jure Bordon will present the Data Insights group and their challenges and technologies that they encounter every day in Celtra. He will highlight the key issues that the company has to solve in order to merge data from several independent sources into one data warehouse, making them suitable for analysis. He will also present the ways in which they can help the management with business decisions and provide advice to Celtra users.

From 30 November 2018 to 2 December 2018, the CERC 2018 regional competition in Prague, Czech Republic (https://contest.felk.cvut.cz/18cerc/), attended two teams of the Computer and Information Technology study program. Champions of UM 2018: Vid Keršič, Niko Uremović, Mitja Žalik and the runner up team: Aljaž Jeromel, Gal Meznarič, Jan Mikolič. They took 38th and 60th place (https://contest.felk.cvut.cz/18cerc/rank.html). Other Slovenian teams took 44th, 45th, 53rd and 61st place.
